In June and July 2017 I rowed the coastline of Britain. It was a great adventure and, at 60 years old, the toughest physical challenge of my life.
About
The story of what happened is in my blog and my Facebook page, but here are a few pictures and videos...
Lesley Foden thinks she can! Lesley spoke to Saga Magazine about taking on the biggest challenge of her life and rowing the 1,800 miles around the coast of Great Britain, aged 60.

Route
We rowed 1800 miles in 8 one-week legs starting and finishing at Burnham-on-Couch in Essex.
Why
I did it for three main reasons...
- Inspire older people to exercise - To do something practical to help with the increasing problems in the NHS and social care.
- Increase awareness about plastic pollution in the seas - To spread understanding about the severe environmental problems being caused by the dumping of plastic into the seas - in partnership with Sea-Changers.
- Support Lifeboats - To raise money for the RNLI.
And for a more personal reason.
Help
I was helped by some wonderful people from these organisations.
