Off the page and on to the water

Mark Foden July 1, 2016

Spent Wednesday morning at Rannoch Adventure taking photos for my new website and talking about the row with Charlie Pitcher and Angus Collins. There are some training weekends planned for later this year and also an assessment session, which I understand will include a mass run (oh joy!) and a dunk in the river to find out if any of us are (in Charlie's words) sinkers!

We talked money, too; and Angus was able to pass on some useful fund-raising advice .... much appreciated as I have quite a bit to raise to pay for my seat in the boat. Never done anything like this before; but I'm hoping, with a targeted campaign, I can cover my costs and make a good contribution to the RNLI.

Getting out on to the water was the best bit. I was surprised by just how responsive the boat was. Two things to get to grips with... 'bucket and chuck it', and how to not get seasick when resting inside the very small cabin between rowing sessions. Also got some good photos: website coming soon...
